As a debut author just trying to find her voice I can earnestly say that this past year has been a whirlwind of emotions. It’s amazing how the smallest idea that permeates inside ones mind can evolve into so much more. I never thought I could do it. I never thought I would do it, but here it is. After endless nights of self-doubt, constant rewrites, and loads of caffeine, I can safely say it was all worth it. This book won’t be my break-out novel, most debuts aren’t, but that doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that this story finds its audience. That it finds people who can resonate with the character of Lyla, people who have struggled with their own trauma, finding strength and persevering even if that trauma haunts you endlessly in your dreams.
This novel may be my first but it sure won’t be my last. Cheers to many more to come!
